As a regular visitor to Cornwall since my childhood, I have fallen in love with the rugged and diverse land and seascapes of the Penwith Peninsula. In my work, I try to describe the shapes of the land and sea, the large skies and range of colours that dominate the area in a semi abstract style. I enjoy allowing the paint to work with the figurative composition by creating patterns and layers of colour, sometimes exaggerating this process by masking off areas to colour fill. For my current work, I am using acrylic paint, oil pastel and pencil on acid free watercolour paper. I also work in oil and acrylic on panel.
I am artist and Head of Art at a local Secondary School, based on the Wirral in the North-West. I studied Fine Art/Painting in Cheltenham during the early 1990’s. I have exhibited regionally and nationally for over 25 years, becoming a regular exhibitor and member of the ‘Arts From The Square’ and ‘Major Merseyside Artists’ groups (along with artists such as Adrian Henri and George Jardine) I have held solo shows and exhibited in group shows in the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Williamson Gallery and the Art Room in Parkgate amongst other places. My work has been on the cover of Wirral Life magazine (including a brief article on my work) and I have sold to private collectors.
