Robert Bashford
Was born in 1965 and live’s in Newbury in west Berkshire and still works full time as a supervisor in a local manufacturing company but at the weekend is out and about looking for the next subject ,mostly the local landscape with the Kennet and Avon canal close by and the river pang as it flows through Bucklebury and with regular trips down to west Cornwall there is always something new to try as the seasons change ,mostly self taught Robert and has been painting since the mid 80’s, first starting with watercolours and then changing to oils after discovering the work of David Curtis who is still a big influence ,along with other artists discovered on the way such as Ken Howard ,Peter brown , Peter Barker, Warick Fuller to but a few , its not just the fine work they produce but the way they work that also inspires, working directly from subject. Exhibiting regularly in local galleries for a few years and in Cornwall also a winner of the Dewent award at Patchings 2013 ,has also shown at the Mall galleries in London with the Royal society of British artists in 2014-2017 and the Royal institute of oil painters 2016 ,he likes to travel light when he is out painting and prefers to use a pochade box.
