Linda graduated in1999 from Coventry University with a BA(Hons) degree in Art & Crafts, specialising in Ceramics. She has worked as an Art Tutor in Further Education until retiring but continues to work with various crafts including textiles and ceramics.
Her main ceramic work is sculptural, inspired by the natural forms in nature. They are hand built, each piece is unique because of the way they evolve during the coiling process. Oxides and body stains are used to provide colour, then the pots are burnished with a smooth pebble and bisque fired to 1000C. Following the bisque firing a resist is applied and the pots are smoke fired then cleaned and polished with beeswax. It is a labour intensive process but exciting, because each piece reacts differently in the smoke firing.
